"Shortbus"
by Crystal B. Bright

"Shortbus", sexually-explicit, funny and brutally honest film by director John Cameron Mitchell, is best described as a Woody Allen-esque flick surrounding the lives of four people/couples living in New York. Mitchell, the same man who starred and directed his debut film "Hedwig and the Angry Inch", does a masterful job of exploring and exploiting the lives of homosexuals, heterosexuals and everyone in between.

The story centers on a sex therapist, oops, sorry, I mean couples counselor, who has never had an orgasm, a gay man in a relationship who doesn't realize his own worth, a dominatrix who wants to have a fulfilling relationship, and an envious voyeur. And they all converge at a meeting place called Shortbus, a place for the sexually gifted and challenged. Only shown in selected theaters for a limited time, this film is worth finding in your area and checking out for yourself.
