"War of the Worlds"

Looking for a fun summer movie to curl up with this winter? I recommend the Spielberg revision of "War of the Worlds." When I first saw this film at the movie theatre, I made a mental note to buy the DVD as soon as it was released--which I did! Steven Spielberg really did the original 1953 classic justice with his updated version.

Spielberg knows how to make you feel at home before he makes you scream. Ordinary folks, like you and I, living our ordinary lives when disaster hits! He gives us images of the world today--including a reference to terroists, which have become our cultural boogeymen. Still Spielberg remained close to the storyline of the 1953 film and 1938 radio play with Orson Wells. Spielberg's eye for detail--including sights, sounds, camera angles, and those awesome tripods-- will keep you at the edge of your seat--but don't spill your popcorn!

To those stale minds who want to attach labels of propoganda and political significance to the film, you should stay home and watch the news. Otherwise, if you're looking for a fun flick to watch with the kids, "War of the Worlds" is definitely a good choice!
