October 16, 2008 Hiho! VA Black Bear here. Due to personal matters beyond my control, I was unable to write my thoughts for awhile. I know I've got alot of catching up to do, so please bear with me (no pun intended!) In the meantime, I'll give you this to ponder: Is it time to reconsider what IS the American Dream? I know this has nothing to do with trucking, but in my travels I often wonder if what we considered the "American Dream" may be in need of a serious overhaul? I mean, lets face it, the days of dreaming of a little house with a white picket fence has become as stale as a slice of bread thats been left out on the counter too long. We're stressing ourselves way too much trying to chase after a fairy-tale American Dream without first asking ourselves, "What is MY American Dream??" Thats just it! We're Americans! Stop chasing someone else's dream! We are a diverse people; therefore, our American Dream should reflect our diversity. So what does this commentary have to do with trucking, you ask? This is MY American Dream! Now go get your own!!
